As Ensign pointed out, people are mostly simpleminded and cannot think for themselves, they choose characters with feelings instead of their brain.
You can see this pattern all over the world and i'm not going to make examples because someone out there, is going to feel that i insulted him/her for pointing out the obviously.
In short, people choose with their feelings. Not all players have the highest goal of winning, some just like to socialize or in other ways do something with their beautiful roleplaying characters.

While others are singleminded and care only about winning, not having fun. Until average everyday PvP matches start rewarding $5-10 for each win, I'm going to continue to have fun and not concentrate solely on winning. Guess that makes me simpleminded, huh?

No, it doesn't. It means that your priorities are set in a different way.
It is the general flow of crap-a-la-la that goes around in All Chat that makes people believe most people are simple-minded. And frankly, I too have put questionmarks sometimes what kind of population is playing GW.
The crap of sextalkers in RA d1
The crap of some excessive spamsellers in LA d1
The general d1: people asking the most basic questions. Yesterday I saw someone asking 'how do I attack someone'. Yes, his question was looking for the 'spacebar' as answer. People like that don't just play the game and try to think for themselves.
Its groups like these people that make others believe that the general population of GW is simpleminded. But any person that can argument his view on things is not simpleminded in my book.

I view it simply as, they are anonymous, hence they can reduce themselves to the lowest of the low end of humanity, and not fear repercussions.

I already answered that, and Makkert clean things up nicely.

For shame...
It's a frickin' snowball arena! Amazing how the gw community manages to wreck pretty much everything.
Oh.. and on the leaving. That boils down to manners and character. And some of the posters in this thread lack both.

The game that is the snowball arena has layers of strategy. Some players are aware enough to actually see the depth of game and strategy. Others just take seemingly random actions and have set their own goals aside from winning. You sir, as many of the other pve carebears that have replied in this post, seem to sympathize far too much with the latter.

No.
What I see is a few individuals who think that their immediate time and wants are far more important than the other seven people in the arena. Don't hit the go button unless you're willing to devote the flippin 5 minutes it takes to win or lose. Like I said before, it comes down to manners and character.

Quitters are the worse breed of sons-of-bitches in the game, I even rank them up there above the leeches. When I see a quitter all I think about is how that someone thinks his time and "effort" is so much more special than the other players left on the team.
You are not that special, get over it.

I value my time rather highly, and am unwilling to waste my time going through the motions in a losing battle in which I will learn nothing that I care about.
Everyone else in that match can value their time however they like. If they want to spend their 5 minutes throwing snowballs at other people who want to throw snowballs, more power to them. That is their right. But just as I cannot tell random snowball chuckers how to value their time, they have no right to tell me how to value my time.
No, I'm not willing to devote five minutes of my time to idiocy - and I resent people pretending that they have more right than I do to place a value on my time and attention.
Peace,
-CxE

If you want to enjoy this game, it's best to stay well clear of ALL random arenas. These are like rotting corpses attracting swarms of flies. All the worst players, and I do not mean noobs only, gather here to revel in the filth.
In there the players are only out to get some lame reward, usually a title. And yes, the faster they get it, the better. It's actually ironic that people are even after these, as they are some of the most worthless imaginable. (Sure, "Lucky" is arguably worse )
You need to be able to select your team. That's how you make 'friends' and learn etc. Random means you can't do that, and thus there is no consequence of a poor encounter (e.g., not playing with that person again). It also means that the Law of the internet often applies: normal kid + audience + anonymity = total fcukwad.

So close to see the point, yet so far away.
The players spend their time to 'win or lose'. When it is clearly determined which side will win (opposing side), they leave. Not everyone needs 5 minutes to determine 'win or lose'.

ROTFL!
You sir, might as well won this thread with this remark. Except:
this thread has no winners, as the party that clearly has put no arguments forth except that one argument (their own parameters of what is right and what is wrong in their mind) would leave a thread prematurely if they noticed they have 'lost' the argument. But that is against their beliefs, leaving prematurely. So they don't, and stick around in this thread renaming that single one argument over and over again, which was replied with several arguments from the other side. (if you reply here with 'well, name them then?' I have to kindly deny your request and ask you to read this very long thread from page to page)
I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying this... But having discussed this for several pages, yet not seeing the other side actually go into discussion and replying to arguments made in an other manner then relisting 'the one' makes me believe that I might as well say 'oranges are purple' and still will be replied with 'the one'.

Finally got Pro Skillz. Not too bad since I started only 3 days ago. I would have never pulled it off had I played every match to the end with noob groups.
